Overview:

A wildlife trip that takes you to the richest territories of Uganda. Day 1- Kampala–Budongo: this morning, transfer from Kampala to Budongo Forest Reserve.  Budongo Eco-lodge (BB)

Day 2- Budongo: After breakfast, with packed lunch and water, you will meet your guide to go on a birding tour. Budongo Eco-lodge (BB)

Day 3- Budongo–Murchison: This morning, you go on the forest walk. On return, transfer to Murchison falls national park. In the evening drive to the top of the falls and return to dinner. Red chili hide-away (BO)

Day 4- Murchison: After an early morning breakfast; do a half day game drive on the northern bank of the river Nile. After lunch, take a boat cruise along the river Nile for game viewing at a close range. Red Chili hide-away (BO)

Day 5- Murchison – Rwenzori: After an early breakfast, transfer to Rwenzori Mountain via Hoima or Bugungu–fort portal Ruboni community camp (BB)

Day 6- Rwenzori: After breakfast, with a local guide, take the turaco view nature walk in the rainforest BB Ruboni community camp (BB)

Day 7- Rwenzori: wake up for early breakfast and head to Ruboni community hill trek. Climbing to 240m, to view margarita peak the highest on Rwenzori. Ruboni community camp (BB)

Day 8- Rwenzori – Lake Mburo: early morning, transfer to Lake Mburo via Kasese – Mbarara.  Rwonyo camp (BO)

Day 9- Lake Mburo: Today do the wildlife walk in the park. Common site include the zebras, giraffe, Topis, Eland, warthogs and lots of birds and other wildlife. Rwonyo camp (BO)

Day 1: Kigali, Rwanda: Arrive today and be picked up by our guide from the airport and transfer to your hotel in Kigali. Accommodation at 5 Swiss Hotel (BB)

Day 2: City Tour of Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park:  a late breakfast then spend the rest of the day, leisurely exploring Kigali. You will participate in the Kigali city tour on a two-wheeler (boda-boda) with local guides and a mini map to give you the feel of direction. Great site seeing, cultural encounters and mixing in the social life of Kigali with an option of going to the market, visiting the milk bar, Kigali arts, local food and gong to mount Kigali to take the views of the city – among others. This afternoon, at around 3:00pm, transfer to Volcanoes National park, the starting point for gorilla tracking. BB. Accommodation at peak spot Lodge (BB)                                        

Day 3: Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park: This morning after very early breakfast and packed lunch, by 8am, the activity begins with a briefing from the park warden and there after entering the forest for the gorilla trek in Volcanoes park. Remember to carry with you bottled drinking water and to hire the services of the porter for assistance (optional). As usual, the tracking starts from the previous day location of the gorillas and may take you from one to eight hours to find them. Spend one hour with the gorillas and return by afternoon to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Optional: Taking a hike to the Dian Fossey grave site, tour to the twin lakes of Burera & Ruhondo, Cave tours in Musanze, bird watching and community ecotourism in Iby’Iwacu cultural village Accommodation at peak spot Lodge (BB).

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: This morning after early breakfast, and with packed lunch, report to the briefing point of the golden monkey trek from the staff of Rwanda Development Board (RDB) before starting the trek. Carry with you drinking water. The activity is a half day excursion and you will return back to the lodge for lunch and check out.  After lunch, continue the drive up to Uganda crossing the border by afternoon, arrive at your destination for dinner and overnight in the neighborhoods of Lake Mutanda, a famous location with great views of the volcanoes and the Bwindi forest. Day 5: Gorilla Trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Bwindi – Gorilla tracking: Have an early morning breakfast and then report to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Gorilla Tracking. With a ranger guide, you will trek for 1-8 hours through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, tracking starts from the point where the gorilla were the previous day. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing you access. It is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered creatures. After spending up to one hour with the gorillas, return for Dinner and overnight as previous night.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park: Early breakfast at the lodge transfer to Kibale National park in Uganda. The transfer takes you north via the beautiful spectacular scenery and the rolling hills of south western Uganda leading you to Queen Elizabeth national park though Kasese, a town once famous for copper in the 1950s. We shall spend a few hours exploring wildlife on the Kazinga channel in queen Elizabeth National park and then continue the journey through Kasese town. From Kasese you will be driving north along the Rwenzori Mountains with the views of the higher mountain peaks on the west (weather permitting). Drive through the rustic crater lakes area to your hotel in the neighborhoods of kibale national park. Arrive in time for dinner and overnight. Accommodation at Kibale Forest Camp (FB)

Day 7: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (Kibale National Park): This morning after very early breakfast / packed breakfast, by 6am, the activity begins with a briefing from the park warden and there after entering the forest for the habituation experience. Remember to carry with you the packed lunch, bottled drinking water and to hire the services of the porter for assistance. Day 8: Bigodi Primate Walk and Transfer to Entebbe for late flight at 11:30 PM: This morning with a local guide, you will participate in the Bigodi swamp walk looking for some of the 200 bird species, primates and other wildlife found here in a community sanctuary. After the swamp walk, continue to fort portal for lunch at garden restaurant. Fort portal town, is the most favorite town by travelers in Uganda and also home to the palace of the King of Toro located bellow the Rwenzori Mountain ranges. The journey to Entebbe will take you through the small homesteads, forested farms and towns like Mubende, Mityana until you reach Kampala then connect for one hour to Entebbe for the flight End of services (BB).

Day 3: Kigali – Lake Bunyonyi: after a relaxed breakfast, you cross to Uganda / Lake Bunyonyi. Byona Amagara camp (FB)

Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi: Explore Lake Bunyonyi area. You will visit the Batwa community, Take a boat trip over this magical lake to the mainland. You will have many opportunities of observing the local way of life to see how the Bakiga people traverse the lake to meet life in this mountainous community. Learn how the lake has influenced the culture and a people to make them some of the most innovative in the area. Optional: a birding tour around the lake to discover the little birds (“Bunyonyi”) from which the name of the lake originates. Byona Amagara camp (FB)

Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi – Mbarara: After a relaxed breakfast, take some of the best scenarios, pictures and moments as the birds celebrate the sunrise. You will then transfer to Mbarara and arrive in time of lunch to the accommodation of choice. On your way, you may stop at great lakes museum for coffee and great views over the hills. While in Mbarara, you will relax at the hotel the rest of the day. Open for options (BB)

Day 6: Mbarara: Today we spend the whole day in Mbarara area. Mbarara town is located in Uganda’s main cattle corridor that encompasses Lake Mburo national park. You will spend the whole day learning how the local Bahima people (cattle keepers and farmers) live with the cattle amongst the pressure from wildlife and the changing climate. After breakfast, you will head to the community to participate in cow watering activity, where you see how the Ankole long horned cattle are attended to. This afternoon include; visiting the Igongo museum where you will have the most deserved lunch then you do the Ankole cooking and homestead experience at Igongo cultural center. Optional activities for this day include; visiting Lake Mburo national park for wildlife walks, trekking, boat cruise, day and night safaris or reluctant wildlife viewing. Open for options (BB)

Day 7: Mbarara – Kasese: After breakfast, leave Mbarara and drive for about two hours to Kazinga channel where the boat cruise will be conducted. After the boat cruise continue to lunch then Lake Katwe for the traditional salt mining experience. In the late afternoon, head to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. The Elephant home (FB)

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth: This morning, have breakfast then start the short trips of your choice around Kasese as you explore with the local life near Uganda’s most popular parks. Return for dinner and overnight. The activities you will be doing include village hill trek, going to Kilembe copper mines. Reluctantly meeting the prople around the park to participate in dances, crafts weaving and other daily chores. The Elephant Home (FB)

Day 9: Queen – Semuliki – Kagadi: This morning, you will wake up early heading to Kyenjojo. On reaching fort portal, branch off to spend some time at Sempaya hot springs in Semuliki national park. You will cook and eat nature cooked snack lunch in the hot spring. Do not forget to carry some bananas, eggs that you will cook in the hot spring as you listen to the natural and cultural background from the guides. After having some good moment at the hot springs, return to fort portal for lunch then depending on the interest and time left, continue to Kyenjojo for an overnight. Tooro royal cottages (FB)

Day 10: Kagadi – Murchison: An early breakfast then start the journey to Murchison falls national park via Masindi. Arrive in time of lunch at paraa lodge Para safari lodge. (FB)

Day 11: Murchison Falls: After an early morning breakfast; embark on a half day game drive on the northern bank of the river Nile. Escorted by game ranger Game in this area includes Giraffe, Elephant, Harte beest, Lion, Uganda Kob, Oribi and a variety of savannah and woodland birds. Return to the Lodge and enjoy the peace and quiet at the swimming pool. After lunch, take a boat cruise along the river Nile for game viewing at a close range. This is a paradise of the Hippo and Crocodiles. You may opt to trek to the top of the falls. Retire for Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Para safari lodge. (FB)

Day 12: Murchison – Soroti: This morning, after a relaxed breakfast, drive leisurely out of the park on our way to Lira. We shall break for lunch in Lira as we do some site seeing. After lunch drive to Soroti for our dinner and overnight. Timisha Hotel Soroti FB

Day 13: Soroti – Elgon (Sipi falls): Early morning transfer to Mount Elgon from our Soroti base. On arrival at Sipi, have lunch then you choose any activity of your choice. Options include the coffee experience, making coffee in the rural setting, Sipi water falls walk or sundowner, a cultural dance in this scenic setting or just relaxing as you gaze the scenery of the waterfalls. Day 14: Sipi Falls: Early morning you will start exploring the Sipi falls area. Optional activities include; The Sipi falls walk, rock climbing and abseiling. Return to your accommodation and relax the rest of the day. Crow’s nest campsite (FB)

Day 15: Sipi-Jinja-Kampala: Early morning transfer to Kampala through Mbale and Jinja towns. You will arrive in Jinja in time of lunch. After lunch, visit the source of the Nile to take the views, pictures and the story from a guide. Options include a boat cruise to the real source and then head to Kampala for dinner and overnight. Day 16: Kampala: Today you will have the car and driver at your disposal to do any activity of choice. Tracking the chimpanzee in the jungle of Kibale National park, during this seven days trip is a rewarding experience. Kibale national park is located in the western part of Uganda bellow Rwenzori mountains and north or Queen Elizabeth national park.  Kibale national park is home to one of the world’s highest primates population density ans you will witness this primate paradise in this tour. After the primates tour, the trip also enables you to Explore the Rwenzori mountains foothills. With a local community guide you will either be doing a hill trek up to 2400m, taking a forest walk neighboring The park or participating in the village walk to learn the local way of life. Uganda has ten national parks. This trip brings you five of these national parks, plus Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital at the source of river Nile. Explore the waters, wetlands, savannas and forests of Uganda. The trip stretches from central Uganda to the extreme west in the impenetrable forest that houses the still remaining mountain gorillas.
