Explore the calderas, caves, forests and cultures during this seven days climb on Uganda’s oldest mountain massif that is a man and biosphere reserve, shared by Uganda and Kenya. Witness the world’s largest caldera measuring 40km long and 8km wide as you take some of the most breath taking views. Being one of the short mountains of Uganda, Mount Elgon gives you an opportunity to trek, hike and wonder the mountain vegetation without restriction or special equipment like on other Africa’s high mountains.

Mount Elgon is in a enormous landscape of 80km diameter that rises 3000m above the surrounding plains. This mountain holds several peaks to choose from, including Wagagai peak 4521m, Sudek peak 4503m, Koitobos peak 4222m and Mubiyi peak 4210m. The multiple caves, unique vegetation zones and the rare wildlife make mount Elgon your ultimate adventure of wonders. With a ranger guide, you will get an explanation of every vegetation zones and the formation of all the physical features on the mountain and their relevance to the local culture of the two dominant native tribes of the Bagisu and Sabinyi people.

Besides climbing this mountain, the destination offers other optional activities that can be added to this trip, such as, rock climbing, biking tours, coffee tours and other cultural encounters in the community  or just taking the scenic views while relaxing in the community lodge outside the park.

Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Sipi falls area – Mount Elgon (BLD)

Day 3: From Sipi base camp trekking to Piswa mountain camp (BLD)

Day 4: From Piswa mountain camp trekking to Hunters cave camp (BLD)

Day 5: From Hunters cave camp trekking to Mude Cave camp (BLD)

Day 6: Trek to Wagagai Peak and return to Mude cave camp (BLD)

Day 7: From Mude cave camp trek to Johnson’s peak and then to Sasa river camp (BLD)

Day 8: From Sasa River camp descend to the Base camp/ Sipi (BLD)

Day 9: Transfer from Sipi to Entebbe airport via Kampala: (BL)
